October 15, 2025 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Health and Harmony

Registration link is here

Dr. Kinari Webb (Yale Medicine ’02) will discuss the approach, mission, work, and impact of Health In Harmony (HIH). In 2007,  Kinari founded HIH in response to the devastation she saw in Indonesia’s rainforests. HIH’s mission is to recognize the inextricable link between human and environmental health, with a focus on providing healthcare as an incentive to protect natural resources. HIH’s work centers on radically listening to Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities, and responding to the needs they identify. By working with these communities to meet their needs, logging has dramatically decreased, and community thriving has increased. With her work featured in various respected media outlets around the globe, Kinari will conclude the talk by discussing HIH’s current efforts to scale the HIH model globally and how you can get involved.

About Dr. Webb: Dr. Kinari Webb, MD is the founder of Health In Harmony, a nonprofit dedicated to reversing deforestation and improving human health through community-driven solutions. A graduate of Yale School of Medicine and Contra Costa Regional Medical Center, Dr. Webb first traveled to Borneo as a college student, where she witnessed the devastating impact of deforestation on both the environment and local communities. Learning from local communities that healthcare and other basic needs drove deforestation, inspired Dr. Webb to found Health In Harmony. Through Health In Harmony, she has helped establish successful programs in Indonesia, Madagascar, and Brazil, proving that investing in human well-being can lead to thriving ecosystems. Dr. Webb is also the author of Guardians of the Trees: A Journey of Hope Through Healing the Planet, where she shares her personal journey and the powerful stories of the communities she serves. She has also just released The Art of Radical Listening: Revealing Collective Wisdom for Change which is co-written with Pat Plude and describes the practical skills of listening to collective community wisdom for planetary health.
