HOW WE RESEARCH CANDIDATES – click to open
YBG reviews publicly available, verifiable sources to document each candidate’s environmental record. We look for votes and legislative actions, sponsored or co-sponsored legislation, executive actions where applicable, published policy positions, and environmental ratings from independent organizations.
We do not infer environmental positions from party affiliation or create our own candidate ratings. When we find relevant information, we identify the source. When our research does not identify a substantial candidate-specific environmental record, we say so rather than drawing a conclusion from the absence of information.
WHY YBG BUILT THIS – click to open
There are excellent resources for learning who is running, how to vote and how environmental organizations have rated elected officials. YBG is designed to take you one step further.
We connect the candidate and documented record with the environmental issues relevant to that office and jurisdiction, then connect those issues to real approaches being used around the country and substantive questions worth asking.
YBG does not endorse or score candidates. Our purpose is to give voters better information for making their own judgments—and better tools for engaging candidates.
