Yale Blue Green encourages everyone to vote and to learn about the candidates seeking to represent them.
YBG is nonpartisan and does not endorse candidates. Our goal is to help members find reliable information about candidates’ environmental records and positions, understand environmental issues relevant to their communities, and ask informed questions about what candidates would do if elected.
The Environmental Voter Project estimates that more than 13 million environmentalists typically skip midterm elections. These are people who rank the environment as a top priority and are already registered to vote. Overall, only about 46% of eligible voters cast a ballot that year.
Think about what that means. Thirteen million registered voters who care deeply about environmental issues but often don’t participate in midterm elections. That represents an enormous untapped opportunity to make environmental concerns more visible in the democratic process.
The first step is simple: participate.
