Cameron McKenzie
Cameron is a Presidential Management Fellow and Community Engagement Specialist with the USDA Forest Service where he leads efforts to connect members of the public across 20 states in the Midwestern and Northeastern U.S. to nature and to support the co-stewardship of regional cultural and natural resources. Prior to his role with the Forest Service, Cameron worked with the NJ Department of Environmental Protection’s urban reforestation program and led community-based environmental stewardship and education initiatives with AmeriCorps and Engineers Without Borders. Outside of his role with the Forest Service, Cameron is an active member of the NJ Commission on National and Community Service.
Cameron holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering in Chemical and Biological Engineering from Princeton University ‘19 and his Masters in Forest Science from the Yale School of the Environment ‘23. Prior to his enrollment at YSE, Cameron was a participant in Yale’s Environmental Leadership and Training Initiative’s certificate program in Tropical Forest Restoration, Conservation, and Sustainable-Use. While at YSE, Cameron conducted research on the canopy ecology of tropical montane cloud forests through the Tropical Resources Institute and Institute for Biospheric Studies and served as a Green and Equitable Workforce Development Fellow with the Yale Center for Environmental Justice. Cameron also co-founded YSE’s first-generation low-income student initiative and led efforts to establish Yale University as a School of National Service through YSE’s creation of a scholarship program for AmeriCorps alumni. Cameron is also currently a member of YSE’s Alumni Association Board.
