Chapter Organization

Yale Blue Green currently has local chapters in Austin, Boston, Chicago, Denver, London, New Haven, New York, San Francisco, and Washington D.C.  Local chapters are an opportunity for alums living in major cities – or other geographic areas with significant alumni populations – to connect with fellow alums in their area, build community, participate in social activities and service projects, and engage with environmental and sustainability issues that are unique to their area. Over the last decade, chapters have developed activities in five areas of focus:  Nature, Service, Social Networking, Education, and Activism.   Examples of successful activities are available from chapter chairs and are posted on the YBG website.  Each chapter has reflected its local environment, culture, geographic range, and interests of the volunteer chairs and alums.   We are pleased with the recent addition of a Class of ’94 Chapter and are eager for more classes to organize their environmental work through Yale Blue Green.

Our goal is to coordinate and support the work of the chapters, and to launch new chapter in cities (in the U.S. and overseas) that have a significant population of Yalies who connect with YBG’s mission. We can provide all the tools and support you need to start a chapter in your city/state.  Generally, we suggest having 2-4 co-chairs per chapter to share chapter responsibilities.  We can put you in touch with other alums who have expressed interest in creating a chapter in your area.  And we are glad to facilitate the development of YBG Class Chapters.

Please email YBG leadership at yalebluegreen@gmail.com with any questions about the work of the chapters, to volunteer to help lead one of the existing chapters, and to get started in establishing a new chapter for YBG.
